From today, the official campaign for the 'October 16 by-elections' begins.

The official election campaign for the October 16 re- and by-elections will begin today (3rd) to select Geumjeong-gu in Busan, Ganghwa-gun in Incheon, four heads of local governments in Yeonggwang and Gokseong-gun in Jeollanam-do, and the superintendent of education in Seoul.


The People's Power Party plans to hold on-site supreme council meetings in Busan and Incheon after floor leader Choo Kyung-ho visits Ganghwa-gun today to support the candidate, while representative Han Dong-hoon plans to hold on-site supreme council meetings in Busan and Incheon after supporting Gokseong on the 8th.

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, will visit Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, and Geumjeong-gu, Busan, in turn today to support him, while Cho Kuk, chairman of the Innovation Party, will carry out all schedules, including the election ceremony, in Yeonggwang and Gokseong today.

During the 13-day campaign until the 15th, candidates' campaign posters and banners will be posted, and candidates can speak in public places using cars and amplification devices.

However, in the case of superintendent elections, political parties cannot be involved for political neutrality in education, and representatives or executives of political parties are prohibited from supporting or opposing specific superintendent candidates or policies.
