Danish police are investigating three Swedish suspects in connection with two explosions near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen, foreign media reported.

Copenhagen police said at a news conference on Tuesday local time that the suspects were between the ages of 15 and 20, with one captured near the site of the explosion and the other two arrested at a train station.

Police said the explosion appeared to have been caused by two grenades, and another building 100 meters away from the Israeli embassy was damaged.

"We cannot yet say for sure whether the embassy was the target of the explosion," he said, adding that he is also investigating whether there are any additional accomplices.

Earlier, at around 3:20 a.m., two explosions occurred near the Israeli embassy.

The blast comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East as clashes between Israel, Iran and pro-Iranian Lebanese militant Hezbollah have intensified.

Local media said the police had noted that "it is only natural to investigate whether the two incidents can be linked."
