Cabbage supply shortage..."I can only buy 3 packs a day."

Wrapping Kimchi Demand ↑…Yesterday's packed kimchi is temporarily out of stock

Prices in the 9,000 won range for the second week since the 19th of last month

Rural Economic Research Institute "Wholesale prices will rise 38.4% in October"

Cabbage prices are continuing to rise.

The retail price of one head remains over 9,000 won.

The lack of supply is being felt at the mart, such as limiting the purchase of cabbage or selling out of packaged kimchi.

There is a reporter on the scene. Reporter Oh Dong-gun!

What's the atmosphere like on the spot?

[Reporter]
It's in a large supermarket in Seoul.

We are still restricting the purchase of three cabbages that one person can buy like this.

There were quite a few products in stock this morning, but yesterday the packed kimchi section was empty because it was completely out of stock.

Let's hear the consumer's voice.

[Lee Eun-mi / Oksu-dong, Seoul: It's too expensive. It's a must-eat food, but in the case of kimchi, it's actually a food I eat every day, but even that's sold out, so I think it'll be a little hard.]

The price of a cabbage counted so far is 9,202 won last Tuesday, 33% higher than last year's average.

Although it has fallen slightly recently, it has been sold at a price higher than 9,000 won since the 19th of last month.

I'm more worried about the future.

The Korea Rural Economic Research Institute predicted in a report in the October issue of Agricultural Observation that the wholesale price of cabbage will rise 38.4% from a year ago to 15,000 won per 10kg this month.

It is expected to be 42.9% expensive compared to the average annual price, which is the three-year average excluding maximum and minimum prices.

As the wholesale price of radish is also expected to rise by 62.7% to 18,000 won per 20kg, there is growing concern that the price of kimchi-related vegetables may rise further ahead of the full-fledged kimchi season.

The government has decided to extend the cabbage discount support, which was originally scheduled to be completed on the 2nd, until the 9th, and is taking all-out measures by increasing imports of Chinese cabbage.

However, until the middle of this month, when autumn cabbage is released, the cabbage 'Borit Pass' is expected to continue.

So far, I've delivered it from a large mart where cabbage sales are restricted.
