The Democratic Party of Korea and the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, which agreed to unify the opposition candidates ahead of the by-election of Busan's Geumjeong-gu district office on the 16th, are in pain in last-minute working-level negotiations.

Speaking to reporters at the National Assembly, Democratic Party spokesman Kim Sung-hoe said negotiations broke down last night, saying there were disagreements with the Innovation Party's central party over whether to put anti-choice clauses in the polls for unification after the two-party candidates agreed last night.

He then argued that the poll for the unification of the opposition party has never included the supporters of the people's power, and that the anti-choice clause must be included in accordance with the custom.

Chung Chun-saeng, the deputy floor leader of the Innovation Party, held a press conference and said he was very embarrassed that the Democratic Party unilaterally declared a breakdown during detailed consultations, but he would accept all Democratic claims under the direction of Chairman Cho Kuk.

The Innovation Party then said it supported the people's power but left it open so that everyone who agreed to the Yoon Suk Yeol regime's judgment could participate in the polls, adding that it does not agree with the Democratic Party's strategic judgment that opposition supporters alone can win the election but accepts it for now.
