U.S. 'surprise increase' of 254,000 jobs in September...an unemployment rate of 4.1 percent

The U.S. Labor Department said the number of nonfarm jobs increased by 254,000 in September from the previous month.

That's well above the 150,000 expert forecast compiled by Dow Jones.

The unemployment rate in September was 4.1% below experts' expectations of 4.2%.
