The AP reports that the vaccination against M.Fox has begun in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the epicenter of the variant M.Fox epidemic.

The Democratic Republic of Congo said on May 5 local time that it had begun vaccinating M.Fox two months after the World Health Organization declared an "international public health emergency," the highest level of health alert.

265,000 doses of the EU- and US-backed vaccine have been distributed to Goma in eastern North Kivu.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where more than 30,000 suspected cases of M.Fox have occurred this year, 859 people have died from M.Fox.

This accounts for more than 80% of the suspected cases and 99% of deaths reported in Africa this year.
