Anti-Semitic incidents in the U.S. have tripled since the outbreak of the Gaza war a year ago than before, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an American Jewish organization.

According to a statement released by the ADL on the 6th local time, there were about 10,000 anti-Semitic incidents between October 7 last year and September 24 this year, more than doubling from 3,325 in the same period a year earlier.

By type of incident, 8,000 people made threatening remarks to Jews in words or texts, accounting for about 80%, followed by 1,840 cases of vandalism, and 150 cases involving physical violence.

Of these, 1,200 occurred on university campuses, and more than 2,000 occurred at Jewish facilities such as synagogues and Jewish centers.

"It is the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust," ADL chief Jonathan Greenblatt said of Hamas' attack on Israel a year ago. "Since then, Jewish Americans have not had a moment's rest."

"We have faced a shocking number of antisemitic threats, and we have experienced calls for more violence against Israel and Jews," he continued.

The ADL has been publishing events related to antisemitism in the U.S. as its annual report since 1979.

For the full year of 2023, there were a total of 8,873 anti-Semitic incidents, with a year-over-year increase of 140%.

The ADL said these figures are only preliminary tallies, adding that the number is expected to rise further if additional cases are received from victims and law enforcement agencies.

According to Israeli media reports, more than 1,200 Israelis have died in the past year since the outbreak of the Gaza war triggered by Hamas' surprise attack, including victims of Hamas' raid on October 7 last year.

Health officials in Hamas-ruled Gaza counted 41,825 deaths in Gaza after the outbreak of the war as of the 5th.
