More than 15,000 disaster texts were sent by Gyeonggi-do Province and 31 cities and counties in the province over the past three years.

According to the government audit data submitted by Mo Kyung-jong (Democratic Party of Korea, Incheon Seo-gu District) of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, 15,889 disaster messages were sent by Gyeonggi Province and 31 cities and counties, including 11,530 in 2022, 2,880 in 2023, and 1,479 in January-August this year.

2022 and 2023 were the highest among local governments in the country, and this year was the second after Gyeongbuk (1,987 cases).

This year, 1,468 safety guides, 10 emergency disasters and one emergency disaster were sent, respectively, and in the case of emergency disasters, Gyeonggi Province sent them to residents of 13 cities and counties on May 29 in connection with North Korea's spraying of leaflets against the South.

An official from Gyeonggi-do said, "In 2022, we frequently sent safety information related to COVID-19 quarantine rules," adding, "We sent relatively more disaster messages than other local governments due to the large population and the border area."
