The harvest season of the farming season is in full swing, but the damage to farms is increasing as rice extermination from China is on the rise.

Due to the hot and humid abnormal climate, the damage is particularly large this year.

The government has decided to recognize agricultural disasters.

I'm reporter Oh Seung-hoon of HCN Chungbuk Broadcasting.

It is the harvest season during the busy farming season when the rice ears should ripen yellow, but the middle of the rice paddy collapsed as if it were a bomb.

The brown rice stalk was buried in the rice paddies without any kernels.

Farmers are also on alert due to the spread of rice extinction damage across the country.

[Oh Ho Kyun / Nangseong-myeon, Cheongju-si, North Chungcheong-do: The abyss becomes Jeong. You're going to suck the juice, so you're going to suck all the nutrients from the base. Compared to last year, this year (the damage) is very severe.]

The biggest cause of the spread of rice extermination is abnormal climate.

Usually around June to July, it is a pest that flies from southern China to the west coast by southwest winds and causes damage, but

This year, the late heat lasted until mid-September, which led to the spread of rice extermination nationwide.

This is the site of damage to rice extermination pests. Last year, there was little damage in the Chungbuk region, but this year, the area of damage has become larger due to the high temperature and humid abnormal climate.

Due to the sudden spread of rice extinction, local governments have also started emergency control work, focusing on affected farmers.

In particular, if rice extinction damage is suspected, it is advised that early harvesting along with control work can help prevent damage.

[Kang Young-ho / Head of the Pest Response Team, Chungbuk Agricultural Research & Extension Services] When rice extermination is seen in the early stages, it is best to control it quickly. If the rice anchovies proliferate at such a high density that a hopperburn (group test) occurs, please harvest them early for about 50 days after water extraction..]

As the damage spread rapidly, the government decided to recognize the damage from rice extinction as an agricultural disaster and launched an investigation into the damaged farms.

Rice farmers, who once suffered measles due to a plunge in rice prices, are sighing deeper this year due to unprecedented rice extinction damage.
