In 44 days since August, African swine fever has again occurred at pig farms.

The Central Disaster Management Headquarters for African Swine Fever said today (13th) that African Swine Fever occurred at a pig farm in Hwacheon-gun, Gangwon-do.

After confirming the occurrence, the Central Disease Control Headquarters sent an initial quarantine team and an epidemiological investigation team to the site to control access to the farm, and conduct disinfection and epidemiological investigations.

In addition, more than 3,500 pigs raised on farms were slaughtered, and livestock facility workers and vehicles in Hwacheon-gun and five nearby cities and counties were ordered to temporarily suspend movement until 8 p.m. on the 15th.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs predicted that there will be no significant impact on the supply and demand of pork, as the number of pigs slaughtered is about 0.03% of the total number of pigs raised.
