Representative of 'Worker dies while construction without safety measures' imprisonment

The Daegu District Court sentenced a 60-year-old construction company representative A, who was put on trial for killing a worker in an accident by failing to take proper safety measures at the construction site, to one year in prison.

The court explained that the degree of violation of A's duty to take safety measures is not light, but that it considered the fact that he acknowledged responsibility and tried to settle it from the beginning of the investigation.

In June last year, A was put on trial in Yeongcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, on charges of killing a worker when the earth and sand collapsed while working on a water pipe without a proper work plan or safety facility.
