Attention is focusing on the timing and method of attendance ahead of the police investigation of Da-hye, the daughter of former President Moon Jae-in, who is suspected of driving under the influence. Billions of won in cash was recently stolen from a rental warehouse in downtown Seoul. Even after the criminal was caught, the question of why a large amount of money was left there is growing. Let's take a closer look at it today with reporter Choi Sang-woo from the Ministry of Social Affairs, who has been covering the two cases. Please come in. First, let's look at the progress of Dahye's drunk driving case, the daughter of former President Moon Jae In. At first, I will attend around the 7th. There was a report like this. But I don't think I'm in attendance yet.

[Reporter]
The first drunk accident occurred on the 5th, so today is the 9th day.Our reporters are at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, which is the police station in charge, but Da-hye was not present today. Initially, there were many expectations that he would attend on the 7th, but since then, he has appointed a lawyer and is still adjusting the schedule. There is also a view that the investigation may be delayed as it is a case of great public interest. The police say that it is not that late based on past cases. According to recent cases of celebrities attending the police on charges of drunk driving, singer Kim Ho-joong was questioned 11 days after the first police investigation and 17 days after being caught, Suga of the group BTS BTS attended the police as a suspect. In the case of Da-hye, the investigation schedule is not expected to be delayed as there are not many issues and public interest is high.

In fact, in the last parliamentary audit of the National Police Agency, it is possible to change the place of attendance for Da-hye's investigation. These comments were controversial. Is that a possibility?

[Reporter]
The controversy arose because of National Police Agency Commissioner Jo Ji-ho's remarks on the 11th. Asked about the possibility of changing the location at the time, Commissioner Cho said that attendance at the police station is a principle, but said, "If there is a risk to the person attending, it is a matter that can be considered." I answered." According to the context of the remarks at the time, it was read to the effect that the location could be changed, and most media reports focused on that, but later issued an additional statement saying that it did not mean that personal safety measures could be considered. At a press conference today (14th), he repeatedly confirmed that it is a principle to summon the Yongsan Police Station once again to investigate. Eventually, it seems that the investigation will take place at Yongsan Police Station, but there is no entrance other than the main gate of Yongsan-seo, so chances are high that "Dahye" will stand on the photo line.

It was confirmed that the victim taxi driver was recently investigated by the police, and it seems that the issue was whether he submitted a medical certificate.

[Reporter]
A police official said today that the victim taxi driver was investigated by the police on the 9th. However, he explained that he has not yet received a medical certificate from the victim taxi driver. Whether or not to submit a medical certificate is a key variable that can change the charges that will be applied to Da-hye. If the driver does not submit a medical certificate, Da-hye will be punished for simple drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act, but if the medical certificate is submitted and the injury is confirmed, additional charges of dangerous driving may be applied under the Special Act on Handling of Traffic Accidents or the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.

[Anchor]
It seems that the victim's taxi driver and whether to submit an injury report will be a really key variable. Let's move on to the next case. Billions of won in cash was stolen from a warehouse in downtown Seoul. Viewers, please explain what this is first.

[Reporter]
The incident took place at a rental warehouse in downtown Seoul on the evening of the 12th of last month. In other words, a rental warehouse is a place where you pay for a certain period of time and leave your luggage. On top of that, 6.8 billion won in cash stored by a customer disappeared. The crime itself was not revealed for more than two weeks, but the victim belatedly found out and reported it to the police. The criminal was caught on the 2nd, five days after the police started tracking down him, and it turned out that he was an employee of a warehouse management company.

[Anchor]
In summary, please keep it safe, and it was like an employee stealing cash from a warehouse where the money was entrusted, but in fact, 6.8 billion won is cash. How did you steal such a large amount of cash when the volume must be huge?

[Reporter]
First of all, the warehouse operates in the form of a contract for a room small enough for each customer to use. It is said that there are various passengers from those who leave bulky luggage due to camping or moving to those who leave expensive small valuables. We have branches all over the country. As I said, suspect A was an employee of the headquarters of a company that operates these warehouse branches. They claim that they accidentally found a large amount of cash in storage and went to that branch and opened the door with the employee's master number and stole the money. In that compartment, 6.8 billion won in cash was divided into six suitcases, and A even conducted a preliminary investigation four days before the crime. On the 12th of last month, the day of the crime, he took out billions of won over six hours, put it in a bag he brought, and transferred it to another compartment. And after a few days, I took the money out of the warehouse and with the help of my mother, I hid it in a building in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. In this process, the warehouse CCTV power cord was unplugged and even the hard disk was damaged to delete the video. It also showed the precision of filling paper with a weight similar to cash so that the victim did not notice
.

The suspect, who was an employee of the headquarters, seems to be a very planned crime. Are there any additional situations that have been revealed about the motive or circumstances of the crime?

[Reporter]
Employee A completed the police investigation and was handed over to the prosecution in custody last week. When asked by reporters about the motive of the crime, they did not provide a clear answer. Let's listen to it for ourselves.

[Mr. A / Suspect of theft: (What were you going to use the stolen money for?) I'm sorry. (Family members have been mobilized. Is there another accomplice?) I'm sorry. (Are you sure you only stole 4 billion won?) I'm sorry.]

[Reporter]
Mr. A claimed that he committed the crime accidentally in a police investigation. I stopped by a branch for work and saw a bundle of money between the zipper and decided to commit the crime. However, the company said that there is no reason to go to the branch for business because A is an employee of the headquarters, and that the employee visits in person only in unusual circumstances, such as expected damage to the customer's goods, and reiterated that there is no reason for A to visit. Given this situation, there is a high possibility that A's claim is false.

[Anchor]
As you saw in the video earlier, the culprit of the incident was caught. But there are still many unanswered questions. First of all, the victim reported that 6.8 billion won was stolen, but the police seized only 4 billion won in cash. So what happened to the rest of the cash? [Reporter] So far, the cash found by the police is about 4 billion won, or 3.95 billion won to be exact. According to the victim's claim, he has yet to find about 2.8 billion won in cash. On the other hand, A states that he stole only about 4 billion won and doesn't know the rest. The problem is that there is no clear evidence to prove which story is correct. First of all, the police are continuing to investigate whether A hid more than 2 billion won elsewhere, weighing the victim's statement, that is, the claim that he entrusted 6.8 billion won in the first place.

[Anchor]
I think the victim will be frustrated. Not only the whereabouts of the money but also the source is unknown. I heard that suspect A left a suspicious note after the crime.

[Reporter]
It's a very questionable part of why you had to keep your money in a shared warehouse, not a bank or a safe. The victim has only been confirmed to be self-employed and has not given a clear answer to the nature of the money. In particular, A's meaningful message on his bag after stealing money is raising questions. The note said, "Pretend not to know even if you know who I am.It says, "Then I won't say anything either," but even if the crime is caught, the victim is threatening that he knows why he can't report it. In this situation, the possibility of criminal proceeds cannot be ruled out, so the police are not returning the seized money before identifying the source with this in mind.

[Anchor]
Is there any possibility that there will be more accomplices?

[Reporter]
First of all, the police arrested employee A on charges of night-time room intrusion and other charges and handed it over to the police. And A's mother, who is accused of helping to keep the stolen cash, has also been booked. In addition to the two, there are also women in their 30s who served as a delivery service to find and bring money entrusted to the victim. The woman found the money missing for the first time, and the police are investigating further because one of the days she visited the warehouse is the same as the day she visited A to explore the crime, and there was a part where she reversed her statement early in the case. The police said they plan to investigate with all possibilities open, as there are many unanswered parts from the motive of A's crime, the whereabouts of the missing money, and the source of the large amount.

[Anchor]
As you said, we have to wait and see how the motives of the crime and the whereabouts of the missing money will be revealed. This has been reporter Choi Sang-woo from the Ministry of Social Affairs. Thank you.
