An analysis has been raised that Hezbollah's self-destructive drone (drone), which hit Israeli military bases and killed dozens of people, is believed to be from Iran.

Israel's air defense system, represented by the Iron Dome, is expected to act as a destabilizing factor for Israel as it has revealed some loopholes in Iran's recent baptism of ballistic missiles and also vulnerabilities in drone attacks.

The Jerusalem Post estimated that the drone that killed four people in the attack on an Israeli military base restaurant in southern Haifa was Hezbollah's Mirsad-1 model.

The Mirsad-1 can load up to 40 kilograms of explosives, with a maximum speed of 370 kilometers per hour and a range of 120 kilometers.

Earlier this year, the drone also entered airspace through Israeli defenses and flew for a few minutes before returning to Lebanon, the Jerusalem Post noted.

According to the Alma Education Center, an Israeli think tank, Hezbollah introduced the Mirsad-1 drone in Iran in 2002 and began using it in attacks on Israel.

The model appears to be an improved version of the Iranian Mohazer-2 or Avaville drones.

Hezbollah is said to have more than 2,000 drones and better performing models such as the Mohazer-4 and Shahed.

The Jerusalem Post pointed out, "The attack raised questions about the effectiveness of the Israeli air defense system against the drone threat."

In August, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) also reported that Iron Dome was not designed in consideration of drone defense and that "Israel will need more than Iron Dome defense."

Israel is developing a next-generation air defense system Iron Beam that intercepts with high-energy lasers to compensate for the loopholes, but it is unclear when the actual deployment will take place.

When Iran conducted a large-scale airstrike with about 200 ballistic missiles, including the hypersonic missile Fatah-1, on the 1st of this month, the air defense system was exposed, with missiles falling at the Nebatim Air Base in southern Israel where F-35 Lightning stealth fighters were stored.
