A prostitution woman who was photographed naked by a police officer in a crackdown on prostitution crimes has won part of the first trial of a damage suit filed against the state.

The Seoul Central District Court ruled today (17th) that the state should pay A 8 million won in a lawsuit filed by A against the state.

In March 2022, the police took a picture of A's naked body with a work mobile phone while cracking down on prostitution and shared it with the crackdown team's group chat room.

Mr. A filed a lawsuit in August last year to compensate 50 million won, claiming that the police violated the principle of due process by failing to present a warrant while conducting a forced investigation that limits privacy and the right to self-determination of personal information.

Mr. A also claimed that the police unfairly forced him to confess by swearing or making remarks that made him feel sexually humiliated.

In July last year, the National Human Rights Commission of Korea judged the police's actions as human rights violations and recommended that the Commissioner of the National Police Agency re-examine and revise regulations and guidelines related to crackdown on prostitution.
