An incumbent police officer accused of stealing hundreds of millions of won worth of confiscated goods secured through investigation has been arrested.

The Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant yesterday (17th) for a sergeant belonging to the Crime Prevention Response Division of the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, who is suspected of theft.

The court explained the reason for issuing the warrant, saying there was a fear of running away.

Jeong, who appeared in court earlier, did not answer any questions from reporters, including whether he admitted the charges or if he committed them to make up for the loss of investment failures.

Sergeant Jeong, who is said to have been in charge of managing the confiscated material in the investigation team of the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, is accused of stealing 300 million won worth of confiscated material, including cash seized in gambling cases, several times.

The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul urgently arrested Sergeant Jeong at the office on the 14th and removed his position the day before (15th).
