Recently, Russian media dismissed the continued rumors of the dispatch of North Korean troops as a lie made up by Ukrainian President Zelensky to draw Western attention and support.

"The Ukrainian regime needed a 'myth' of North Korea's involvement in the Ukraine conflict," Russian media outlet Vzglyad said, according to former Russian deputy ambassador to the United Nations, Konstantin Dolgov.

Dolgov argued that the false information that "someone is helping Russia" was created because Ukrainian forces were all failing on the front lines and Zelenskyy had to somehow explain the cause of the failure.

"It was so obvious that even the U.S. was not ready to agree to it," Dolgov said of the rumor of sending North Korean troops.

"Zelenskyy has tried to find new arguments and provocative information that will break the 'quiet resistance' of U.S. President Biden and German Chancellor Scholz," Russia's state-run RIA Novosti news agency said in a column, speculating why Zelenskyy raised the theory of sending North Korean troops.

In addition, Russian media outlet Moskovsky Komsomoletz said, "Zelensky's claim to participate in the North Korean military indicates that he is trying to resolve the shortage of Ukrainian troops by legalizing the existence of Western troops on Ukrainian territory."
