11 agencies under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Gas Corporation, Electrical Safety Corporation, National Oil Corporation, District Heating Corporation, Gas Technology Corporation, Gas Safety Corporation, Energy Corporation, Gwanghae Mining Corporation, National Oil Management Agency, Energy Foundation, and Coal Corporation) have serious misconduct and need strong punishment.

Rep. Oh Se-hee (Democratic Party of Korea), a member of the National Assembly's Trade, Industry and Energy Small and Medium Venture Business Committee, analyzed the "disciplinary status of executives and employees" data submitted by 11 organizations subject to the parliamentary audit on the 17th and found that 243 executives and employees have been disciplined for economic misconduct, sexual violence, and drinking since May 2022.

By disciplinary type, there were 97 cases of job malpractice such as △ unfaithful performance of duties, 91 cases of economic violations such as △ entertainment provision and use of public funds, 22 cases of violations related to the Road Traffic Act such as △ drinking and hitting and running, 19 cases of abuse against △ suppliers and colleagues, 11 cases of △ sexual misconduct, 2 cases of △ personal violations, and 1 case of △ personnel violations.

In the case of economic crisis, an energy foundation employee was fired after it was found that he stole about 20 million won by writing a false labor contract and embezzled about 350 million won by threatening to penalize support companies.

An employee of the Korea District Heating Corporation was dismissed for using 90 million won in loans privately after submitting false data to take out loans for employee accommodation, and another employee was suspended using his company card as his card.

In some cases, he was disciplined for violating the duty to prohibit commercial business and the duty to prohibit concurrent employment and was caught secretly doing YouTube activities. One gas company employee was sponsored on Instagram and YouTube, and posted videos and posts during work hours. Another employee was caught leaving work early for 73 days without permission to do real estate-related YouTube activities.

In relation to the sexual crime committee, it was pointed out that unlike other organizations such as Korea Gas Corporation, they were dismissed for sexual harassment in the workplace, and the Korea National Oil Corporation issued a series of suspensions, making it a "slap disciplinary action."

Lawmaker Oh Se-hee said, "The laxity of public service discipline is going too far," and stressed, "Strong punishment is needed to eradicate corruption in order to create a working organizational culture."
