The Joint Chiefs of Staff said the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff held the 49th Korea-U.S. Military Commission (MCM) via video today to discuss pending alliance issues and security situations.

The chairman of the South Korea-U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff assessed that North Korea's provocations and increased military cooperation between North Korea and Russia threaten peace on the Korean Peninsula and the world.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff also agreed that it is important to continue close ties with the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces in the process of developing the recently established operational plan of the South Korean military strategic command.

This year's South Korea-U.S. military committee meeting was held in the U.S., but it was replaced by a video conference in consideration of the situation in which North Korea raised the level of threat to the South, such as bombing the Gyeongui and East Sea lines.
