The Ministry of Public Administration and Security has decided to increase the retirement age of public service workers from 60 to 65.

It is the first extension of the central government, and it is drawing particular attention because it was done before civil servants.

Let's take a look at the contents.

This is the regulations on the operation of public officials revised by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last week.

The retirement age clause only listed 60 years old, but a new item that can be extended to a maximum of 65 years old was newly established through separate screening.

Specifically, this year, the age of 60 will increase to 63.

Originally, he is old enough to retire, but if he passes the deliberation committee, he will be able to work for three more years.

This year, people in their late 50s will have an increased retirement age until they turn 64,

And from the age of 55, the retirement age will increase to 65.

Civil service workers who are subject to application are private workers who work similar to civil servants, from central administrative agencies, local governments, and community centers to civil service counters.

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security is the first central ministry to extend the retirement age of all public officials regardless of their occupation.

While the National Assembly is currently discussing the revision of the law, which extends the retirement age to 65, the retirement age of public officials has been extended before civil servants.

The move is drawing attention because the so-called "income gap" surrounding the national pension has been under the spotlight.

It has been pointed out that pension benefits themselves start at the age of 65, and retirement started at the age of 60, five years earlier than that.

Attention is also being paid to whether it will spread to other ministries.

At the same time, public service is changed like ordinary civil servants for some welfare treatments.

Typically, the period of parental leave will be increased from 24 months to 36 months, and the target will also be extended from children under the age of 5 to under 8 years old or to those under the age of 2 in elementary school.

The revision reflects a collective agreement signed between the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and its public officials in September.

In the process of responding to the low birth rate, changes were reportedly made with the aim of further improving the treatment of public officials.
