After the U.S.-China trade conflict over semiconductors, China still appears to be playing a central role in semiconductor manufacturing and supply chains, suggesting that it will take a considerable amount of time for the actual U.S.-centered global supply chain reorganization.

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry said today (22nd) in a report that analyzed the import and export combination of Korea, the United States, China, Taiwan, and Japan, and that trade interdependence among countries other than the United States is still high.

Based on the import-export combination, which means that the larger the number is 1, the higher the complementarity of trade between the two countries, China's export combination of memory semiconductors with South Korea and Taiwan was 2.94 and 1.52, respectively, as of 2022.

In terms of imports, China showed more than one high complementarity in its relationship with Korea, Taiwan, and Japan in both memory and system semiconductors.

On the other hand, China and the United States were found to be less complementary with 0.62 and 0.09.

The KCCI said in a report that China still functions as a global semiconductor manufacturing supply chain hub, memory semiconductors maintain close production systems with South Korea and system semiconductors with Taiwan.
