Gasoline prices in the U.S. are falling two weeks before the U.S. presidential election, the New York Times reported.

With gasoline prices falling to around $3 a gallon in most U.S. states, the average price of regular gasoline at U.S. gas stations was $3.16 as of the 22nd local time, down 11% from the same point last year.

In particular, gasoline prices in 19 states, including presidential contenders Georgia, North Carolina and Wisconsin, fell below $3.

The New York Times reports that Vice President Kamala Harris is trying to use the drop in gasoline prices as a boon to her campaign.

The New York Times also added that former President Donald Trump has also said he would cut energy costs by more than half and lower gasoline prices by less than $2 a gallon, but has not explained how he would do so.
