North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited strategic missile bases that operate intercontinental ballistic missiles and ICBMs ahead of the U.S. presidential election to emphasize readiness for response.

The Korean Central News Agency reported that Chairman Kim inspected the strategic missile base and inspected the readiness for operation, including the functions and capabilities of each element of the launch-related facility and the status of the strategic missile duty.

This is the first time that North Korea has disclosed the inside of a strategic missile base, and it seems to have demonstrated its intercontinental ballistic missile capability to hit the U.S. mainland ahead of the U.S. presidential election.

Chairman of the states Affairs Commission Kim said at the meeting that strategic missile force is a key competency that forms the backbone of war deterrence, stressing that it is an important principle to modernize the overall military technology with strategic missiles as a priority.

He also said that the threat posed by U.S. strategic nuclear weapons to North Korea's safety environment is increasing day by day, adding that the U.S. should be strictly prepared for a thorough response to nuclear force.
