A drone algorithm has been developed that is inspired by nature and responds to the surrounding environment to judge traffic conditions on its own.

It actually flew 100 drones, and computer simulations enabled it to operate up to 5,000 drones.

This is reporter Lee Sung-kyu.

100 quadcopter drones with four rotating wings slowly take off and embroider the twinkling night sky.

It flies flexibly without human control without colliding with each other like a flock of pigeons.

Unlike swarm flights or centrally controlled flights where multiple drones move equally according to pre-populated programs, these drones judge traffic conditions on their own.

[Gabor Vasarherii / Hungarian ELTE Researcher: All drones make their own decisions without human control]

Drones communicate their location, speed, and optimal traffic direction to avoid collisions with each other.

[Reporter]
The researchers accumulated data on group movements in nature, such as the movements of pigeons and horses.

Based on this, drones themselves have developed algorithms that judge traffic and perform tasks according to surrounding conditions.

[Tamas Visek / Hungarian ELTE Professor] We've been studying moving in groups of animals and people for over 20 years. They are used to avoiding collisions with each other, which is a very important factor for drone flights.]

[Reporter]
In addition to the actual large-scale drone demonstrations, we also confirmed that up to 5,000 drones can be effectively operated through computer simulations.

Drone

that works in every part of life from personal hobby shooting to simple product deliveryAttention is focusing on whether drone technology, which judges traffic by itself from hundreds to thousands, will further expand the scope of drone application.
