The Washington Post, a leading U.S. daily newspaper, has declared that it will not support a specific candidate from this presidential election.

William Lewis, editor and CEO of The Washington Post, wrote to readers that The Washington Post will not and will not support any specific presidential candidate from this presidential election.

"We will go back to the basics of not supporting a presidential candidate," the editor said, adding that he will be as reasonable and honest as possible about what we believe in regarding presidential issues.

He also said he knows that not fielding candidates can be read as tacit support for one candidate or avoiding responsibility for another, but we don't think so.

"Our job is to provide neutral news for all Americans and to give readers a perspective to take seriously," Lewis said, stressing that our mission as a newspaper published in the capital of the world's most important country is to maintain independence.

It is the first time in 36 years that the Washington Post has not endorsed a presidential candidate, according to U.S. media.

Meanwhile, the New York Times, recognized as one of the two most influential U.S. regions along with the Washington Post, officially announced its support for Vice President Harris on the 30th of last month.
