The spread of rumpiskin, a livestock epidemic, is unusual.

As concerns over the spread across the country grew, the government began to strengthen quarantine by conducting Japanese disinfection.

A control line has been established in front of a Korean beef farm in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, to announce the ban.

The cows in the farmhouse here were tested positive for rumfiskins, and emergency quarantine measures were taken.

However, additional confirmed farms were found in Wonju, Gangwon-do, and Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

The government has extended the temporary suspension order, which was issued only in Gangwon and some parts of Chungnam, to Gyeongbuk and Chungbuk.

In addition, two days this weekend have been designated as "emergency Japanese control and disinfection day" and disinfection work is being carried out nationwide on livestock farms and surrounding areas.

Rumpiskin has spread to North Gyeongsang Province and Chungcheong Province, especially this month, and reports of infection have continued.

Most of the farms have been vaccinated, but it takes three weeks to form antibodies, raising concerns about further spread.

[Park Yang-soon / Chungcheongnam-do Animal Disease Team Leader: Most of the vaccinations for deferred vaccination such as calves and pregnant cows have been delayed, so it has been confirmed that they are occurring in a state where immunity has not been formed. Livestock farmers should thoroughly control, disinfect, and vaccinate pests until the temperature drops to winter temperatures.]

Rumpiskin is mainly infected by vampire insects such as mosquitoes, and it leads to a sharp drop in milk production and damage such as miscarriage.

The mortality rate is less than 10%, but it is classified as a type 1 livestock epidemic due to its strong transmission power.

Tensions between livestock authorities and farmers are increasing due to the spread of Rumpiskin.
