Four out of 10 wage workers in their 20s are non-regular workers, and this proportion is the highest ever.

According to the National Statistical Portal of the National Statistical Office, as of August, 1,461,000 non-regular workers were among wage workers in their 20s, accounting for 43.1%.

It is the highest proportion ever as of August since 2003 when related statistics began to be compiled.

By type of work, there were 817,000 part-time workers in their 20s, up 401,000 from 10 years ago, and the share of part-time workers among wage workers nearly doubled from 12.4% to 24.1% during the same period.

Part-time workers mean workers who work at the same workplace for more than one hour shorter than the prescribed working hours.

In addition, 66.6% of all non-regular workers voluntarily chose non-regular jobs, the highest since related statistics were compiled. The tendency of the

employment market to prefer experienced workers to regular public bonds may have affected it, and it is analyzed that young people are jumping into non-regular workers more than before to build related careers.

In addition, 31.4% of young people with experience in employment accounted for the first job in May, the highest ever since related statistics were published.
