Representatives of the seven major religions have proposed to the government that universities should be allowed to handle the issue of medical student leave of absence autonomously in connection with the legislative conflict.

The Korean Council of Religious Leaders issued a statement saying that the medical field should no longer be emptied.

In addition, on the premise of discussing the origin of the medical school quota, which is the core of the conflict, from 2026, we ordered that each representative group participate in the 2025 entrance examination quota to be fully discussed within the scope of not interfering with the academic schedule.

He also added that efforts should be made to improve the training environment for residents, support specialists, dispel public concerns about medical privatization, and ensure health insurance.

The mediation plan was announced in the name of six co-representatives, including Monk Jinwoo, the general secretary of the Jogye Order, the co-representative of the Korean Council of Religious Leaders, and Chairman of the Christian Federation, Seo Jeong-young.
