Today (31st), the day of Halloween, is attracting citizens who want to enjoy festivals in Hongdae and Itaewon, Seoul.

Police and local governments responded to prevent safety accidents, expecting more crowds than usual.

Yes, it's on Hongdae Street in Seoul.

I think there are quite a lot of people, can you feel the Halloween atmosphere?

[Reporter]
Yes, from witch makeup to people wearing dinosaur masks,
The streets are getting crowded with people who came out to enjoy the
Halloween Festival.

Citizens on their way home from work also stop and take pictures with people dressed as animation characters.
After the
disaster, Halloween festivals are flocking to Hongdae rather than Itaewon.

As of 7 p.m. today, more than 76,000 to 78,000 people visited Hongik University's special tourist zone, whose density is "normal."

It's not as much as it was last weekend, when nearly 100,000 people gathered, but the crowds are increasing as time goes by.

At the same time, the concentrated population in Itaewon seems to be relatively less crowded, with 10,000 to 12,000 people.

It's more important than anything else that there's no safety incident,

The police and other related authorities have also come up with countermeasures?

[Reporter]
Yes, there is an order fence in the middle of Hongdae Street, where many stores are concentrated.

It is a measure to induce traffic on the right to prevent people from getting tangled up.

The police sent about 140 people, including mobile patrols, to the scene today.

Major club visitors and store facilities are managed without obstructing the sidewalk. The local government in charge of

operated a joint situation room on Sangsangmadang Street in Hongdae and started crowd management.

Fire authorities also set up an emergency rescue control booth here and put about 40 personnel and ambulances on standby.

There are many people dressed in various clothes on Halloween,
Is there anything to note about
?

[Reporter]
Props such as toy knives and model pistols should not be carried around.

Police are conducting random checks on people with weapons and items that are difficult to distinguish,

The intention is to prepare for an emergency as the weapon rampage becomes a social problem.

In addition, some pointed out that there was confusion at the scene after mistaking the police who were actually dispatched during the Itaewon disaster two years ago as a person dressed up.

Accordingly, clothes similar to the police are subject to intensive crackdowns.

If you violate this, you can face up to six months in prison or a fine of up to 3 million won under the relevant law, so please be especially careful for festival participants.

There will be a lot of crowds around Seoul this weekend as well,
I shouldn't let my guard down until the end of
.

[Reporter]
Yes, it is the end of the festival, but many people are expected to visit Hongdae and Seongsu-dong in Seoul on weekends.

For this reason, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will continue its "Halloween-focused safety management" until the 3rd of next month.

15 regions subject to centralized management,

In particular, eight places, including Hongdae, Itaewon, Seongsu-dong, Myeong-dong, and Apgujeong, will be designated as key management areas and stronger safety measures will be implemented.

Each autonomous district has also engaged in an all-out safety management war.

The measure came after the Disaster Safety Act was revised to require the head of the local government to take necessary measures for safety management even at local festivals without organizers,
In Yongsan-gu,
, autonomous districts, police, and fire authorities work together to patrol the site and monitor it 24 hours a day through crowd management CCTV.

As civic consciousness to maintain order is more important than anything else, you should pay attention to safety so that disasters do not repeat.
