A group of abductees planned to fly 50,000 leaflets to North Korea in Paju, Gyeonggi-do this morning (31st), but failed due to police and residents' blockades.

However, it has announced that it will try to spray leaflets again soon, raising the possibility of another collision.

Reporter Lee Hyun-jung's report.

Crowds gather one after another in front of the 6.25 War abductees Memorial in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do.

A group of families of abductees came to fly 50,000 leaflets containing pictures and explanations of the victims, saying they want to know if their families were kidnapped in North Korea.

[Choi Seong-ryong / Chairman: What my family wants is simple. It's to check if it's alive!]

He claimed that he did not slander the North Korean regime for fear of provoking North Korea, and that he only expressed his heart for his family.

However, residents of the border area strongly protested by mobilizing more than 20 tractors.

"Stop anti-North Korean leaflets, stop anti-North Korean leaflets!"

As North Korea raised the loudspeaker noise against the South, daily life collapsed, and they complained that it was difficult to sleep due to anxiety about the war.

[Roh Hyun-ki / Munsan-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do: I have to go home and rest after farming, but I can hear better at that time. There's a feeling that the real war is becoming a reality.]

Gyeonggi-do Province sent more than 70 special judicial police officers to prevent the distribution of leaflets, and more than 1,000 police officers were also mobilized to prepare for an emergency.

As the police pulled up to control the car wall, there was no physical conflict between the two sides.

The abductees group eventually canceled the leaflets, but insisted it would try again soon.

Conflicts and tensions in the border area are increasing as some areas in Gyeonggi Province have been designated as dangerous zones and leaflets have been banned from being distributed to Ganghwa, Incheon.
