Tokyo Electric Power Co. says it has recovered a small amount of nuclear fuel debris inside Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident reactor.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. put less than 3 grams removed from the debris of nuclear fuel in the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant No. 2 containers in a dedicated metal container.
This is the first time Tokyo Electric Power Co. has recovered nuclear fuel debris from the nuclear power plant since the March 2011 accident caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Tokyo Electric Power plans to analyze the recovered debris after putting it in a sealed device and transferring it to a laboratory.
In August, more than 13 years after the accident, Tokyo Electric Power Co. started a trial export of nuclear fuel debris, but successfully recovered it this time after two failures due to errors in device assembly and camera failure.
