In addition, the opposition party alone passed the National Assembly plenary session on the amendment of the "Kim Gun-hee Special Prosecutor Act" proposed by the Democratic Party of Korea.
The amendment is to compress the scope of the special prosecution's investigation into allegations of Kim's involvement in Deutsche Motors stock price manipulation and suspicions related to Myung Tae-kyun, and to give the chief justice of the Supreme Court the first right to recommend the special prosecution candidate.
However, the Democratic Party added a clause that allows the opposition to demand a re-recommendation if the candidate recommended by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is deemed inappropriate.
When the Special Prosecutor Act was introduced to the plenary session, all members of the People's Power left and did not participate in the vote.
This is the third time that the Kim Gun-hee Special Prosecutor Act has passed the National Assembly plenary session since December and September last year.
