The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently announced that a California resident who had been to eastern Africa has been confirmed to be infected with the variant M.Fox.
The infected person is currently quarantining at home and state health officials are checking for symptoms in people who have come into contact with the infected person.
The California Department of Health said in a news release that there is no evidence that the variant M.Fox is spreading in the U.S., including California.
The U.S. became the sixth country outside Africa to have confirmed cases of mutant M.Fox infection.
