Fire at the shopping mall in Danwon-gu, Ansan..."52 rescued, 2 seriously injured"

A fire broke out at 3:38 a.m. today (17th) in a six-story commercial building in Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do.

At 3:57 p.m., 19 minutes after the report, the fire department issued a "response stage 2" to mobilize personnel and equipment from surrounding fire departments, and put out the big fire at 4:47 p.m., an hour and 10 minutes later, it completely put out the fire at 5:52.

Fire officials searched the interior and rescued 52 people, including seven foreigners, of whom 31 were taken to hospitals.

There are two seriously injured people, and fortunately, they are in a state of clear consciousness.

Two people jumped out of the building, falling on an air mat installed by the fire department and reportedly not seriously injured.

The fire department plans to investigate the exact cause of the fire based on a report that there was a "popping" sound at the time of the initial report.

Meanwhile, Minister of Public Administration and Security Lee Sang-min issued an emergency order at around 5 a.m., and instructed firefighters, police, and local governments to do their best to save lives by mobilizing all available personnel and equipment.
