Previously, it was only recommended by its courts, but now, candidates are recommended nationwide, and a senior judge of the high court may be appointed as the district court chief.

In a regular appointment next year, Minister Cheon explained that the head of the district court is, in principle, among judges belonging to the district court, but some district court chiefs will open the way for the head judge of the high court to be appointed.
