The candidate recommendation system for the head of the court, which was put forward by former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Kim Myung-soo, has been virtually abolished for the first time in five years.
In a post on the court's internal network today (18th), Chun Dae-yup, head of the court administration, said he has prepared a new court chief's procedure based on various opinions inside and outside the court.
First of all, after receiving recommendations from members of the judiciary, such as judges and general public officials of courts across the country,
After deliberation by the
Judge Personnel Committee, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court appoints the right person to the courts of all levels.
Although the form of recommendation was used, the existing system for electing candidates for the chief justice of the court is virtually abolished in that it is appointed by the chief justice without voting.
Previously, it was only recommended by its courts, but now, candidates are recommended nationwide, and a senior judge of the high court may be appointed as the district court chief.
In a regular appointment next year, Minister Cheon explained that the head of the district court is, in principle, among judges belonging to the district court, but some district court chiefs will open the way for the head judge of the high court to be appointed.
