The government has decided to continue supporting humanitarian projects to support Ukrainian grain to food crisis countries next year.
Kang In-sun, the second vice foreign minister, said in a video statement of the "Third Food Security Summit" hosted by Ukraine that the U.N. World Food Program will provide an additional $6 million and about 8.43 billion won in our money.The
'Ukraine Grain Initiative' is a humanitarian project to provide some Ukrainian grain to countries suffering from severe food shortages such as Somalia and Yemen, which provided $3 million last year and $6 million this year.
Kang also emphasized the South Korean government's willingness to cooperate for this, saying that it is important to strengthen the international community's will and efforts to respond to the food crisis at a time when countless people around the world suffer from hunger.
Ukraine, a major grain exporter, has been holding a food security summit to respond to the global food crisis since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022.
