The Criminal Investigation Office of a high-ranking government official, which investigates allegations that there was external pressure in the investigation of the death of a Marine soldier, has resumed a reference investigation into officials from the Ministry of National Defense.
An official from the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit said today (26th) that the investigation of the reference began last Wednesday and that the investigation of those involved will continue until next week.
At the same time, he explained that he was calling key aides of executives who had the authority to make decisions at the time to check the facts.
However, he declined to comment on the opposition's demand to apply for the preservation of evidence for the existing mobile phone of President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife, who recently replaced their mobile phones, saying it is a matter for the investigation team to judge.
The Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit investigated Marine Corps and Defense Ministry officials as suspects or reference persons from April to June, and has recently strengthened the number of investigation teams and is speeding up the investigation of those involved again.
