Trump's "discussing allocation of White House press seats to influencer"

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has discussed with him how to exclude some mainstream media outlets from the White House briefing room, Donald Trump Jr., the president-elect's eldest son, has revealed.

Political media outlet The Hill said on the podcast that Trump Jr. discussed with his father how to open the White House briefing room to more independent journalists and social media influencer.

The White House briefing room has 49 press seats, with authoritative mainstream media such as NBC News and Fox News, CBS News, AP, ABC News, Reuters and CNN broadcasting in the front row for good questions.

The White House has left the assignment of press seats to the press corps since the Reagan administration, but Trump has invited media favorable to him to the briefing room ahead of the 2020 presidential election during his tenure.

When Trump ordered CNN reporter Katelyn Collins to switch seats with the reporter sitting in the back row, reporters protested, saying Trump was trying to punish the reporter for asking questions he didn't like.
