Two Chinese fishing boats that were illegally fishing in our waters near Fishery Administration Island in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, were arrested by the West Sea Fisheries Management Team.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said it caught two Chinese fishing boats at around 7:50 a.m. yesterday (1st) in waters about 67 nautical miles west of Eocheong Island in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province.
They were found to have captured 3.5 tons of anchovies using a smaller-than-standard net and tried to take them out without permission without writing them in the fishing log.
The West Sea Fisheries Management Team imposed 120 million won in collateral on each fishing boat in accordance with related laws.
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, together with the West Sea Regional Maritime Police Agency, will crack down on illegal fishing by Chinese fishing boats in our exclusive economic zone for three days from tomorrow (3rd).
