North Jeolla Province Governor Kim Kwan-young, who declared his bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, announced his strategy to host the Olympics, saying, "We will hold a solidarity Olympics in the non-metropolitan area led by North Jeolla Province."
At the expanded executive meeting, Governor Kim presented a plan to link with other regions such as Chungcheong, Gwangju, Jeonnam, and Daegu and said, "Jeonbuk's bid for the Olympics is the first step in balanced national development and a new history of local development."
Governor Kim also opened up the possibility of distributed hosting, saying he would focus on how to overcome the fierce international competition with the Seoul Metropolitan Government over the domestic competition.
On concerns about lack of infrastructure such as stadiums and accommodation facilities, a large convention, a track and field stadium and an indoor gymnasium are currently being built in Jeonju, he said, adding that if carried out normally, there would be no major disruption to hosting the 2036 Olympics.
