The demand for the lifting of martial law was approved at the plenary session of the National Assembly with the approval of 190 lawmakers from the ruling and opposition parties, but the ruling party, the People's Power Party leadership, did not attend the vote.

Floor leader Choo Kyung-ho belatedly expressed his apology and regret for the current situation, but said it was his judgment to boycott the vote.

The National Assembly resolution to immediately lift the emergency martial law declared by President Yoon was passed with the approval of 190 lawmakers.

172 votes were cast by pan-night parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea and the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, and 18 ruling party lawmakers also attended the vote and voted in favor.

[Won-Sik Woo / Speaker of the National Assembly: The declaration of emergency martial law is now invalid. The National Assembly will protect democracy with the people.

However, most of the ruling party lawmakers who attended the vote were classified as close alumni, and a large number of floor leaders and pro-Yoon-gye lawmakers, including floor leader Choo Kyung-ho, were absent from the vote.

At that time, floor leader Choo and some floor leaders were found to have been inside the National Assembly headquarters where the vote was held,
It wasn't until an hour after the vote that the floor leader,
, expressed his apology and regret for the current situation.

[Choo Kyung-ho / People's Power Floor Leader: I am sorry for causing concern to the people. I'm very sorry.]

The majority of the lawmakers were gathered at the party because they could not enter the National Assembly, and they asked National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik to give them time, but he explained that the vote took place suddenly.

However, he said it was his own judgment that he did not attend the vote.

[Choo Kyung-ho / People's Power Floor Leader: I waited to communicate with the lawmakers. I decided not to participate (in the vote).]

Some pro-Yoon-gye lawmakers also explained that there was no obstacle to passing the demand for the lifting of martial law, saying that it was because they were trying to collect opinions within the party in such a tight situation.

Han Dong-hoon and Lee Jae-myung, the two leaders of the ruling and opposition parties, agreed to lift the emergency martial law.

Some predict that the aftermath will continue as floor leader Choo Kyung-ho, who should lead the floor vote, will not attend the plenary session.
