Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jung said, "Ceremony, apparently illegal..."President resigns"

Gwangju Mayor Kang Ki-jung condemned President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law and urged him to step down.

Mayor Kang participated in the Gwangju Citizens' Emergency Situations Conference held at the May 18 Democratic Square today (4th) and condemned, "President Yoon's declaration of emergency martial law is anti-constitutional and clearly illegal and absolutely unacceptable."

"We will hold the Yoon Suk Yeol government accountable for the actions it has committed and fight together until the day we step down," he said.

Mayor Kang previously held a joint meeting early this morning to declare the nullity of the emergency martial law.
