Regarding the emergency martial law, which was lifted six hours after the declaration, Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae said, "The more difficult times, the more certain the judiciary will do its job."

Chief Justice Cho made the remarks on his way to the Supreme Court on the morning of the 4th, and when he pointed out that there may be legal problems in the martial law process, he replied, "We will have to wait and see what procedures we went through later."
