Japanese media reported in real-time breaking news that President Yoon Suk Yeol declared an emergency martial law and lifted it within six hours, fearing the impact of the issue on Korea-Japan relations in the future.

In particular, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's plan to visit Korea next month is expected to be disrupted by the emergency martial law situation in Korea.

Kyodo News reported that a Foreign Ministry official said there could be an impact on Ishiba's visit to Seoul depending on future circumstances.

The Yomiuri Shimbun has also been coordinating plans for Prime Minister Ishiba to visit Korea and hold a summit with President Yoon in January next year, but predicted that the schedule could be changed.

Major daily newspapers, including Yomiuri, Asahi, and Nihon Keizai, heavily placed related articles at the top of their website with articles that the Korean president declared emergency martial law on their front page.

Kyodo News reported that while President Yoon's approval rating was low, martial law appeared to have been enforced to overcome the difficult state administration situation caused by the opposition party, but both the ruling and opposition parties criticized strongly and analyzed that the decrease in centripetal power was inevitable.

Japan's largest daily newspaper, Yomiuri, also said that President Yoon suddenly declared emergency martial law amid confrontation with opposition parties, adding that it is unclear whether such measures will win public support and that greater confusion is expected.

Mainichi reported that President Yoon appears to have chosen the extreme method of emergency martial law without enduring the opposition offensive.
