Prosecutors' Request for Audit for 'Promotion of Impeachment', Resolution of Opposition's Independent plenary session

The National Assembly held a plenary session and handled the audit request by the Board of Audit and Inspection for violations of the Constitution and laws of the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor's Office, and the prosecutor alone.

The audit request calls for an audit by the Board of Audit and Inspection, claiming that prosecutors violated their political neutrality obligations, with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office issuing a collective statement in opposition to the opposition's "impeachment of prosecutors."

In particular, suspicions that prosecutors' actions violated related laws such as the Constitution and the National Public Officials Act, violations of political neutrality as a state official and violations of political movement bans were pointed out for audit.

It also included an audit to push for disciplinary action and inspection by the Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, the High Prosecutors' Office, and the local prosecutor's office, which assisted and encouraged public officials in violating laws.

The Board of Audit and Inspection shall report the audit results to the National Assembly within three months from the date of receipt of the audit request.
