U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed former White House Trade and Manufacturing Policy Director Peter Navarro as a senior trade and manufacturing adviser.

Trump posted on Truth Social on the 4th local time and said no one had been more effective or persistent than Peter in enforcing the two principles of purchasing American products and hiring Americans during his first term in office.

Trump also said Navarro helped renegotiate unfair trade agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement, the South Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement and the FTA, stressing that his mission is to successfully promote and communicate manufacturing, tariffs and trade agendas.

Navarro, who is called Trump's economic strategist, is a China hawk and tariff supporter and is considered to have proposed protectionist policies during the first Trump administration and planned a trade war with China with high tariffs.

Trump also said he would appoint Daniel Driscoll, a senior adviser to Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, to serve as U.S. Army secretary.

NASA has named billionaire Jared Isaacman, the first civilian to go into space as head of NASA, and Adam Bowler, the former CEO of the International Development Finance Corporation, as special envoy for hostage affairs.
