Immigrant boat sank off the coast of Greece...dozens of people killed or missing

At least five people were killed and dozens were missing when a boat carrying migrants sank near the southern Greek island of Crete on the night of the 14th local time.

Authorities, including the Greek Navy and the Coast Guard, have rescued 39 people and are continuing search operations.

Those rescued said dozens were in the same boat, but it was not clear exactly how many were there.

The rescued migrants were taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital.

A Greek government official said the recent conflict in the Middle East has increased the number of immigrants.
