The so-called 'climate inequality' problem, in which abnormal climate damage from global warming is more concentrated on the vulnerable, is becoming more serious.

According to a recent report released by the Climate Solution, a climate environmental group, and the office of Rep. Mo Kyung-jong of the Democratic Party of Korea, North Gyeongsang Province had the highest amount of damage from climate disasters per capita for 11 years from 2013 to 1.53 million won.

Climate disaster damage in rural areas with relatively low greenhouse gas emissions, such as Gangwon and Jeonnam, was analyzed to be more serious than in cities, and this phenomenon was also found in the [fact-tracking] report.

Fishermen on Jeju Island were suffering from winter crop damage due to abnormal climate such as heavy rain in November, while the sea ecosystem changed due to rising water temperatures, resulting in a decrease in catch of popular fish species.

Experts pointed out that socio-economic vulnerable groups, such as residents of dosshouses and basic livelihood recipients, are also more exposed to the climate crisis, but there are still gaps in support policies such as energy vouchers.

The YTN investigative report program [Fact Tracking], which will air at 11:20 p.m. on the 18th, examines the reality of climate inequality brought about by abnormal climate and focuses on solutions.
