Semiconductor stocks strengthen in New York Stock Exchange...Nasdaq 1.24% ↑ Close

The blue-chip Dow closed weaker, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq up more than 1% as semiconductor-related stocks continued to strengthen in the New York Stock Exchange.

Broadcom, which set fire to a rise in semiconductor stocks last week, topped $1 trillion in market capitalization for the first time ever, rose more than 11% on the same day and the semiconductor index surged more than 2%.

By the close of the day on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones 30 Industrial Average closed at 43,717.48, down 110.58 points or 0.25% from the previous session.The

Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 22.99 points, 0.38% to 6,074.08 from the previous session, and the Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 247.17 points, 1.24% to 20,173.89.

As buying in semiconductor-related stocks such as Broadcom has been concentrated for two consecutive days, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index jumped more than 3% on the 13th and surged more than 2% on the same day, quickly making up for last month's slump.
