The National Assembly's impeachment investigation team, which will serve as a prosecutor in the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk Yeol, has begun its activities in earnest.

The impeachment panel, consisting of nine members of the Democratic Party of Korea, including Chung Chung-rae, chairman of the National Assembly's Legislative and Judiciary Committee, Park Eun-jung of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, and Cheon Ha-ram of the New Reform Party, held its first meeting at the National Assembly.

The People's Power expressed its intention not to participate in the impeachment trial.

Chairman Chung, a member of the impeachment committee, explained that the major legal litigation agent has not yet signed a contract and has actually entered into action, and that he is very competent and has experience in impeachment trials.

In addition, Democratic Party floor leader Park Chan-dae told National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik that he would form a legal representative group with around 20 people, and the chairman readily allowed it.

Choi Ki-ki, a former judge and spokesperson for the impeachment inquiry, told reporters after the first meeting that he agreed to complete the formation of the delegation by the 20th.

Choi added that he will meet regularly two to three times a week to prepare for the trial, and that all the prosecutors will attend the first hearing of the Constitutional Court on the 27th.
