Ten days after Syrian rebels ousted Bashar al-Assad's regime, the U.N. says the number of refugees has risen to 880,000 as armed conflicts continue across Syria.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said in a status report published on the 17th local time that airstrikes have recently been reported in northern Aleppo, western Tartus and Latakia, as well as southern and northeastern Syria.

Unrest remains unabated following a series of destruction of residential buildings and key infrastructure such as drinking water, health facilities and ports, the report said. The

report said, "880,000 new refugees have been made so far since the 26th of last month, when the rebel offensive to topple the regime intensified," adding, "About 225,000 of them have entered the hippo and Aleppo regions."

The United Nations has sent an emergency relief coordinator to Syria since the 16th to find a solution to such social unrest and humanitarian crisis.
